SUMMARY:What Will It Take to Get to a Russian-Ukrainian Ceasefire and Negotiations?
DESCRIPTION:Peace and anti-war movements around the world have called for a ceasefire and negotiations to end the Ukraine War. Pope Frances, President Lula of Brazil have echoed that call, while China has called for a ceasefire and put forward its peace proposal. Yet the deadly and devastating war goes on.\nJoin leading U.S. and European peace movement leaders to get their takes on what and who will be needed to stop the fighting and begin Ukrainian-Russian peace negotiations.\nPhyllis Bennis directs the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies, focusing on Middle East, U.S. wars and UN issues. She is also a fellow of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam. Her books include Challenging Empire: How People, Governments and the UN Defy U.S. Power ( https://www.interlinkbooks.com/product/challenging-empire/ ).\nReiner Braun is former executive director and president of the International Peace Bureau.  He has began in the peace movement in 1982 working on the Krefeld Appeal against nuclear weapons. He is a founding member of the International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility (INES) and served as executive director of the German section of the International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms. He is recently returned from Moscow, where he met with members of the Russian elite and war opponents.\nLudo De Brabander is a Belgian writer and spokesman for the Belgian peace organization Vrede vzw and a member of the No to War/No to NATO Steering Committee. He writes opinion pieces for Vrede, Uitpers, Knack.be, De Wereldmorgen and Mo.\nOrganized by Massachusetts Peace Action and the Campaign for Peace, Disarmament and Common Security\n
