SUMMARY:Building and Defending Democracy in November’s Elections
DESCRIPTION:The future of the Republic and more will be at stake when voters go to the polls in November.\nCan Trump, who this month celebrated the neo-Nazi AFD’s victory in East Germany, and his allies sufficiently rig the elections to reinforce their power & privilege, further undermine constitutional democracy, and continue their unprecedented economic corruptions?\nWill Democrats, divided as they are, win control of one or both houses of Congress, hold those who have ruled illegally and brutally accountable?\nCome election day, what can we and our movements do to defend and restore the rule of law, economic security, racial justice, and peace?\nOur webinar is designed to help frame priorities, including actions as well as policy commitments, that state and community-based movement leaders should be thinking about as we approach November’s elections.\n \nSpeakers:\n Jeremy Brecher is a historian, documentary filmmaker, strategist, activist, and author of books on labor and social movements. He was a co-founder of Labor for Sustainability and the Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs.\nMax Elbaum has been active in peace, anti-racist and radical movements since the 1960s. He is a member of the Convergence Magazine Editorial Board and the author of Revolution in the Air.\nCole Harrison is administrative director of Massachusetts Peace Action and staff organizer for its Stop the War on Iran Campaign.\nINITIATED BY\nThe Campaign for Peace, Disarmament and Common Security\nCO-SPONSORED BY\nMassachusetts Peace Action and Labor Network for Sustainability\n
