Global Power Dynamics: U.S.-China Relations

The U.S. National Security Strategy is clear that the Post Cold War era is over, and that the competition among the great powers to shape what follows is on. The dangerous U.S.-China competition for Asia-Pacific hegemony continues apace. Flashpoint military confrontations in the South and East China Seas and over Taiwan, and the U.S.-Chinse arms races threaten regional, even nuclear, war. And, despite the two great powers economic interdependence, the escalating trade war threatens people’s livelihoods and their economic security. Of equal importance, there is no hope of halting and reversing the existential dangers of the climate emergency without U.S.-Chinese cooperation.

Join us to deepen your understanding of the history, tensions, and alternatives to the world’s most important and potentially dangerous strategic relationship.
